    What jobs can plumbers do?

    A plumber is responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining of gas and water pipes, sanitation units, health systems, fixtures and other plumbing used for water distribution and wastewater disposal in commercial and residential buildings.  They also access and design plumbing systems, install bathtubs, sinks, dishwashers, water heaters, toilets and ensure they comply with local rules and regulations.  

    Plumbers typically know how to handle machinery and use various tools. They often use wrenches, hacksaws, pipe cutters, bending equipment, grips, seals and tapes. They often make correct measurements, calculations and specifications for the safe and efficient completion of projects within set deadlines.

    Roofing                    

    A roof plumber is someone who is trained in installing gutters, downpipes, rainwater tanks, and flashings on both residential and commercial buildings. They can also install wall cladding and roof sheeting. They have the ability to read and interpret technical diagrams so they can install roof drainage systems of different angles in houses. They also make sure that water tanks capture the maximum amount of rainwater by calculating the correct pitch and size of roofs.

    Gas Fitting

    Gas fitting work is defined in the Gas Standards (AG5601 Gas Installations) Regulations 2013 as to any operation, work, or process in connection with installation, removal, demolition, replacement, alteration, maintenance or repair of a gas installation.  Therefore, a gas fitter is a person who services natural gas appliances and fixtures. This includes installing gas appliances or systems. Such individuals may work in industrial, commercial or residential areas. They are qualified to install gas pipes, test pipes used for gas appliances, install LPG systems and flues for gas appliances, install gas detection and regulating systems and complete gas maintenance.  Plumbing and Gas Fitting are separate occupations with different training and qualification requirements

    Plumbing Licences are issued by the Queensland Building Construction Commission whilst Gas Licences are issued by Department of Mines and Energy.
